## Math 272: College Arithmetic

At College of the Redwoods, Math 272 is the course number for our College Arithmetic course. This course is designed to provide the basics of arithmetic before students move on to the study of algebra.

**Prerequisites**: There are no prerequisites.

**Course Description**: A study of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, with an emphasis on applications. Includes applications of proportion and percents, unit conversion, and averages. Problem solving, estimation, small group work, exploratory activities, and the communication of mathematical ideas are an integral part of the course. The use of scientific calculators will also be introduced.
